All I Want for Christmas

5 Dec

. . .is for my mother to learn how to use the computer.  We just had a “super” time doing online shopping.  And by “online shopping” I mean “she had no idea what to get to we kept clicking back and forth on different pages and she finally sat in front of the computer while I sat on the couch.”  We got a lot accomplished.  All we need to do now, is go to the mall to actually buy the gifts.

I need some booze now.

My mom made the past month even more stressful for me, mostly due this same thing (well, same arena).

She started taking an intro comp class and actually set up an EMAIL account (never had one before). Then she bought a cheap laptop and got me to set up a broadband account for her through the local cable. I tried MULTIPLE times to provide a basic price list of her options and all she ever said was that “so and so has all that for cheaper”. She was even arguing when I was on the phone with the rep and TELLING me what to sign her up for (um yeah, I KNOW since I have the same set up). She told me to leave off one option because she didn’t want to pay the extra $3.45/a month and then later called to complain that she didn’t have it.

I had to explain what the screen saver was and why it was necessary (until then, she said the computer was acting funny).

Her timing couldn’t have been worse as the majority of this took place during my last 2 weeks on the job (when I actually had stuff to do). I go straight from work to pick up the kids to home. The kids nap so I obviously can’t run errands while they sleep, but she wants to me to do everything in the 30 min I am at her house in the afternoon.

Sorry I won’t go into (anymore) detail . . . it’s just frustrating thinking about it and all the things that kept coming up.

    Anyway, I understand your pain.

Sweet baby Jesus and all the little lambs! Lord only knows how you made it through without beating her senseless! -CS

Seeing as how I haven’t spoken to my mother in over 3 years, this really isn’t an issue.

Black Sheep of the Family… the gift that keeps on giving. And I am grateful every damn day!

It certainly does have its perks! -CS

Christmas shopping sucks. But getting Christmas presents is awesome. So it all evens out in the end.

I don’t mind the shopping, but I can’t stand it when I’m going with someone and they have no idea what to get and we just wander around aimlessly. -CS

My mother is a frickin geek and it annoys me cause she always has something first and it’s usually a better version. Ipod, Flat screen….If I was racing my mother to get better technology I would have to sell a kidney.

Maybe your mother needs to educate my mom on technology. It’s freaking embarrassing to go to her house and see her 1997 television. Seriously. -CS

I did the majority of my shopping online this year and I LOVED it! I did that a few years ago as well. It’s so much more convenient. I’m just sitting back waiting for the packages to arrive.

I do also enjoy the online shopping, I just have to wait to get my bonus before I can do that. . . -CS

I’ve liked Christmas a lot more since I started enforcing my rule: your gift to me is me not having to buy a gift for you. That way, we all save time and money and don’t end up with worthless crap.

That’s a really good idea. I thought I would give you a cold sore, but we can go this route instead. -CS

Someone else giving ME a cold sore? That would require some Christmas magic.

The holidays are all about magic. Imagine how festive you could be with a cold sore for your cold sore? -CS

you are one (or twenty) steps ahead of me. i think my mom just now starting to understand the difference between a credit and debit card.

Oh Jesus. I don’t know if my mom knows the difference or not. I’m not going to ask. -CS
